Every Wednesday in Italian, we get out of the classroom and expereicne some aspect of Florentine culture. We've visited a wood workers shop, seen a few movies and watched an ironworker mold a peice of metal into a beautiful piece of art. Of course these things were all very interesting to see, yet this past week we went to the shop of Lorenzo Villoresi and most definitely experienced something very unique. At the top of a building overlooking the Arno, Lorenzo makes custom perfumes for the European elite. Apon entering, these are thousands of tiny bottles with various odd and hard to find scents, most from the Orient.
For a meere 3600 euros ( a little more than 5000 dollars) Lorenzo will sit you down for two hours on his balcony to enjoy a view of the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio while he "psychoanalyzes" your personality to make the most unique and complimentary scent for you. For those peasants who can't afford this luxury service, Lorenzo offers a few lines of perfume and cologne that may be purchased for about 100 euros (150 dollars)!
We were very lucky to even enter Lorenzo's store since my teacher said she had to beg for a couple of days to let us in. Apparently, only those who can actually afford his services are allowed admittance to his shop.
